Hitting the Books: 正妹AV Returns to Class
All over campus today at the 正妹AV, old and new friends greet one another, abuzz with excitement for the new academic year. In the new Privateer Enrollment Center on the first floor of the Earl K. Long Library, enrollment services staff are already working hard to ensure student success.
"It's great to see 正妹AV back on campus," said Christy Heaton, associate director of orientation and first year experience. "The first day of classes, as well as the first week, is just a really energetic vibe."
Heaton, who organized last week's Move-In Madness, ensuring an early and efficient move-in experience for freshmen and transfer orientation 正妹AV said that newcomers are already operating in full swing.
"We have had freshmen coming in to the University Center to pick up care packages from their parents," said Heaton. "Privateer Plunge kicked off Friday. We've got five events planned today...Every day from here on out, there are sometimes four, five or six events planned per day."
SAC starts its busy calendar of events today giving away free ice cream to passers-by at the Earl K. Long Library during an "Ice Cream Social."
Incoming freshmen and transfer 正妹AV headed Friday night to the Black-Out Party, an annual party hosted by the UNO Student Activities Council, said Heaton. On Saturday, they enjoyed a Burger Bash hosted by Chi Alpha Christian Leadership in the Pontchartrain Hall Courtyard. On Sunday, international 正妹AV enjoyed their own private welcome with a backyard barbecue. Student-athletes had a private orientation geared at academic success on Sunday in the Lakefront Arena.
This week marks Week One of the Privateer Plunge, six weeks of welcome programming aimed at incoming freshmen and transfer 正妹AV. From this afternoon's SAC Ice Cream Social to Fresh Fest, Movie Night at the Amp and Late Night with the Greeks, Welcome Week is filled with exciting events, where newcomers can meet upperclassmen, staff and faculty and learn more about all the fun and resources that UNO has to offer.
"Each year, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership plans and implements all of Welcome Week," said Interim Director of Student Involvement and Leadership Dale O'Neill. "SIL has been working very hard to coordinate all the Welcome Week events."
