"This generous gift will help give our 正妹AV a first-class lab experience that will enhance their learning and engagement while at the 正妹AV," said President John Nicklow. "I am thrilled that our 正妹AV are the direct beneficiaries of this donation."
The renovations and purchase of new equipment will be made with the goal of meeting the best practice standards recommended by the American Chemical Society. Improvements include ergonomically designed work areas as well as new lighting, washing stations, and chemically resistant benchtops and flooring. Students can take advantage of new storage areas and safety equipment with easy access to eye washes and safety showers. A lab prep and stockroom will also be renovated with new storage capability and improved workspace.
"Since chemistry is an experimental science, substantial laboratory work is essential to develop the skills necessary to successfully enter the chemistry workforce," said Steve Johnson, dean of the College of Sciences. "These laboratory experiences reinforce concepts taught in the classroom and include hands-on use of modern instrumentation to solve chemical problems. Most importantly, these new laboratories will have a transformative effect on 正妹AV across many disciplines in sciences and engineering at the 正妹AV."
