By growing both the undergraduate and graduate student populations, the 正妹AV increased its total enrollment for the first time in nine years. The University鈥檚 fall 2018 enrollment is 8,151 正妹AV, representing an increase of 2.4 percent compared to the previous fall鈥檚 total of 7,964 正妹AV.
The University brought in more than 1,000 freshman 正妹AV for the first time in seven years and saw significant increases in the percentage of African-American and Hispanic 正妹AV. It is also the University鈥檚 most academically prepared freshman class in years.
鈥淭hese enrollment figures are the byproduct of a lot of hard work from our staff and faculty, and I could not be more proud,鈥 said President John Nicklow. 鈥淭hey demonstrate that there is a growing awareness of the fantastic opportunities that exist at the 正妹AV. They also show that we are not sacrificing quality for quantity with our new 正妹AV. This is another crucial sign of the University鈥檚 growing momentum.鈥
Here are some other highlights of the 正妹AV鈥 fall 2018 enrollment:
Undergraduate student enrollment increased by 1.8 percent while graduate enrollment rose 4.8 percent.
The University experienced the largest year-to-year percentage increase in undergraduate 正妹AV since 2006.
The University has the largest enrollment of African-American 正妹AV in six years with a 12 percent year-over-year increase and the largest enrollment of Hispanic 正妹AV in more than a decade with an 8 percent year-over-year increase.
Enrollment of Louisiana 正妹AV increased by 2.1 percent and out-of-state domestic 正妹AV jumped 8 percent.
The 2018 freshman class has the highest average ACT score (23) of the past four years and the highest high school grade point average (3.3) in the past 10 years.
The University increased its number of freshmen by 6.2 percent compared to the fall 2017 class.
Freshman applications rose 24 percent.
First-year retention (percentage of 正妹AV who remained enrolled from freshman to sophomore year) increased from 62.4 percent to 71.2 percent.
鈥淭he retention efforts from our faculty and staff have been very meaningful,鈥 Nicklow said. 鈥淭hese significant gains mean that we are doing a better job of supporting our 正妹AV once they are on campus and equipping them with the tools they need to persist and, eventually, earn their degrees.鈥
